Update: April 2006, I tried to get a friend to join me in
buying a parcel of land. 2 plots side by side, each with 15meters across
of prime beachfront and 55 meters deep. Each plot was selling for $75k USD.
I had some weird "mental hangup" about needing to buy both plots or none, as
I didn't want some yahoo buying the adjacent plot and doing something to
piss me off, which would have been as likely as a monsoon flood in Bangladesh.
I checked out the title deeds, everything checked out and this was a rock solid
and legit of a deal. Unfortunately, none of my
friends or aquaintences was interested. I dragged my feel for 2 months
before getting the courage to extend myself and buy both plots by myself, but
they had sold already. Today, August 2007, a bit over 1 year later... each plot is on
the market for $675k USD. But I remain optimistic. The way I look at it, I spent $1.2m USD overcoming
my weird mental hangup.
