There’s a big movement away from using tables in the HTML code and putting them into CSS. Doing so seperates content from design, makes pages load faster, gives you extra links from a cult following of CSS tableless design fanatics and lastly, search engines in all their idiosyncracies, seem to prefer tableless website designs. Having all my websites done in heavy table format, I can attest for this last point.
